The book measures 15.5cm x 23cm.


There are some signs of age, use and wear. The blue hardback cover is a little faded, discoloured in parts, with some rubbing/wear of the edges and across the general surface, corners bumped. Some surface scratches present but hard to pick up on photos. Gilt lettering on spine and front cover still bright. Boards holding well, exterior hinges good, firm solid binding. Both Paste-downs particularly yellowed with age. First end paper has an ink inscription along the top of the page.

There is some age/use related page discolouration dotted throughout, mainly yellowing. A number of pages are rough cut, leaving some frayed outer margin edges, and some tearing, which doesn’t affect the text. A few pages are mismatched in size and not uniform with the majority of the text block. No loose or missing pages.


Overall the book remains in good reading condition, with as described clear signs of age, use and wear. A scarce first edition, with interesting illustrations.
