This book has clear signs of age, use and wear. The deep embossed patterned front and back boards have an unusual and intricate gilded design, boards are clasped with a brass hinged latch. This style is frequently seen in large antique family Bibles, however scarcely seen in smaller prayer books. The clasp remains tight and in full working order. There is noticeable rubbing shelf wear to the boards, all edges and corners have some wear. Some fading and discolouration of the red leather and gold gilding also significant. The Text block remains tightly bound, some noticeable foxing/spotting/yellowing of the pages dotted throughout. Full page inscription on the first front blank end paper. The page edges are gold gilded along with a gauffered pattern. One ribbon marker present but detached
Overall a very rare antique edition, highly unusual style of binding for a prayer book. Despite it’s obvious beauty please do expect wear and discolouration as described.
If you require any further information then please don't hesitate to ask.nscription on the first front blank end paper. The page edges are gold gilded
