Scarce unusual binding on this antique edition,

Printed by Henry Frowde, at the Oxford University Press, London.
No Print year, however Henry Frowde’s tenure ran during the late 1800’s early 1900’s.
The leather binding appears to be Morocco leather, with a pressed alligator skin pattern. It is textured, with raised circular bumps, with lines of oval markings in three adjacent lines running horizontally across the whole surface. Very similar to alligator skin. Gilded title ‘Church Sevices’ and ‘Oxford’ stamped on the spine. The end pages and paste downs are baby blue silk. The outer edge of the inside covers have an attractive gilt roll pattern. Page edges are red under gold gilt. Quite an unusual design we haven’t seen before, in a quality binding.
The book measures 8.5cm x 13cm.

Pre owned with some signs of age/use. The leather cover has visible rubbing, top and bottom of spine particularly rubbed, some light scratches, spots of discolouration/blemishes etc. Corners and edges shelf worn. The boards are holding well, firm with no exterior or interior cracking of the hinges. Gilt title remains bright.
End papers and paste downs are good, no splitting, a little grubby. Gilt roll runs along outer edge of inside covers, a little dulled. Text block in good reading condition. Mild Yellow toning of the pages all throughout, overall text block is holding strong with no loose/missing pages. Appears little used. Page edges are gilded, some dulling and slight scratches noticeable. Two white ribbon page marker present, slightly discoloured and worn at the ends. No previous owner inscriptions or notes.
Overall contents remain in very good reading condition, an attractive and scarce collectible edition, with as described signs of age, use and wear.
