Fringilla: Some Tales In Verse by Richard doddridge blackmore.
Borders, initials and full-page illustrations by Louis Fairfax Muckley, and three by James W. R. Linton.
1895 First Edition published simultaneously with the American Edition, also printed 1895. Published by Elkin Matthews, London.
The book measures 17cm x 21cm.
There are some clear signs of age, use and wear. The green cloth hardback cover is elaborately blocked and lettered in dark green to both boards and spine, with a central circular bird motif on rear board. Corners bumped, edges shelf worn, spine darkened/sunned. Foxing and browning dotted throughout, end papers and paste downs mostly affected. Full page illustrations have tissue-guards; some creased and browned. Ink inscription on front first end paper, pencil annotations dotted throughout beside text. Text block tight and complete, toned throughout. A lovely and scarce example, dispite its aged condition.
