There are various signs of age, use and wear. The purple leather cover has darkened with age, some noticeable spots of surface wear dotted about. Some rubbing of the leather, the boards edges and the top and bottom of the spine in partcular. Gilt title on spine remains bright, gilt cross on front board with previous owner gilt initials beneath. Small leather loop attached to the leather flap, pulling the flap removes the section which is inserted into the front board. The flap is in good working order, some surface rubbing along the folds. The front board edge where it holds the flap is a little worn, the top edge in particular has a very small worn split from repeated use. Brown end pages and paste downs in good condition, no hinge splitting. Overall the text block appears strong, tight and complete. No loose or missing pages. Some pencil scribbles on the first blank end paper. General toning/yellowing of the pages, age related. Mild foxing dotted about. Text is completely legible. Gilt page edges generally bright, some light scratching on all sides. One ribbon page marker present, but well worn.
Overall the book remains in good reading condition, with flap in good working order. As described clear signs of age, use and wear, a nice little edition nevertheless.
