Johannes Gerhard (17 October 1582 – 17 August 1637) was a Lutheran church leader and Lutheran Scholastic theologian during the period of Orthodoxy.

A small leather bound book, measuring 5cm x 9.5cm, 4cm thick.

There are some significant signs of age, use and wear. The leather cover is significantly faded and discoloured, well worn along the edges and general surface, though binding remains acceptable. Remnants of clasps on both boards, the latches themselves missing. The text block has shifted/bowed out, pages remain tight and complete. There is some age/use related page discolouration/creasing dotted throughout, brown spotting/foxing etc typical with age. At some point through its life a bookworm has bored through a good proportion of the text block, affecting small parts of the text throughout.

There is a previous owner inscription scribbled over on the first end paper, the end papers are tatty and worn.

Overall remains in acceptable reading condition considering it is 393 years old. A rare and collectible piece, with as described significant signs of age, use and wear, typical with age. Please look at all photographs for the best understanding of condition.
