Miniature Holy Bible, Chained to a miniature lectern, 1919

A delightful Miniature Holy Bible, connected by chain to a miniature lectern.

Printed by Authority, New York, Oxford University Press, American Branch. Printed in England. The license page names W.P. Nimmo Hay and Mitchell Limited of Edinburgh as licensees, 1919.

The book measures 5cm x 3.5cm. The lecturn is 16cm tall, and around 8.cm wide.

There are some clear signs of age, use and wear. The lecturn is in good functional condition, wood is a little marked in parts, but generally in good solid condition. The chain is firmly fixed to the lecturn, with all links original. The fixing to the book appears to have been repositioned from the rear board bottom left corner to the right side bottom edge. It's likely the fitting became detatched/torn from its original site from frequent use. The brown leather binding is a little worn/rubbed, gilt title on spine bright. Inside front board has a leather flap which houses the magnifying glass panel. The flap is not fixed on all sides, the magnifying glass fits comfortable inside but is prone to slipping out. The magnifying glass is in good working order. Text block is generally ok and complete. A few signatures are loosening and protruding from the block slightly, however still holding on. Some creasing of the delicate thin paper throughout. A little toned in parts. Page edges a little discoloured, top edge has a red tinge.

Overall remains in good reading condition. However we would consider this as being more of a display piece. Due to the age and delicate nature of the miniature binding it would be easy to damage the item if used regularly. Please check all photographs for the best understanding of condition.
