Novum Testamentum, 1714 Greek New Testament, Brown Calf Leather Binding
NOVUM TESTAMENTUM.
Londini (London): Ex Officina Jacobi Tonson & Johannis Watts, MDCCXIV (1714).
The book measures 9.5cm x 15.5cm.
Bound in dark brown calf leather. Spine has four raised bands with later added brown leather title label. Boards holding well, no hinge splitting. Corners bumped, overall surface wear, discolouration and indents. Appears that some good restoration work has been completed on it. End papers soiled, along with previous owners details, inscriptions, and some intentional scratching. Title page in red and black, some ink inscriptions either side of the title. Engraved frontispiece has a little ink bleed through from the inscriptions on the reverse. Clear Greek text throughout, a few pages have ink notations and underlining towards the rear. Overall yellow toning of the paper. A few pages throughout have had restoration, some margins and corners carefully repaired. The last leaf top margin in particular with some minor loss of text.
Overall a well preserved copy, with clear restoration completed in parts done to a good standard. Remains in good reading condition despite its clear signs of age, use and wear.
