POPULAR STORIES COLLECTED BY THE BROTHERS GRIMM.
Oxford Edition.
With Twenty-Two Illustrations by George Cruikshank.
Printed 1905 by Henry Frowde, London. A reprint of the first English Edition.
The book measures 13cm x 18.5cm.
There are some signs of age, use and wear. The cover has some shelf wear, some rubbing/wear of the edges, top and bottom of the spine most noticeably, corners a little bumped/worn. Gilt lettering on spine and front cover still bright. Centre white title lettering and flower motifs a little faded/patchy. Boards holding well, exterior hinges good, firm solid binding. There is a padded feeling to the boards, cover sinks a little when pressed and then pops back. A couple of permanent indents are noticeable on the front cover. The end papers and paste down are a blue marbled effect, discoloured with age. Previous owner inscription on the first end paper, dated 1907.
There is some age/use related page discolouration dotted throughout, mainly yellowing of the pages. Text block good and solid. All edges gilt. Some dulling and scratching of the gilt.
Overall the book remains in good reading condition, with as described signs of age, use and wear. A pleasing edition, with beautiful Cruikshank illustrations, in attractive binding.
