SHARPE’S DIAMOND DICTIONARY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.
With Forty-Five Decorations, from the works of Shakspeare.
The Engravings from the burin of Mr. John Thompson. The Drawings from the prolific pencil of Mr. William Harvey.
First Published 1835 by Charles Tilt, London.
The book is small, measuring just 5cm x 8.5cm, 2.5cm thick.
There are some signs of age, use and wear. The black leather hardback binding has some shelf wear. Edges of the boards, spine and raised bands on the spine have some wear. Some general surface wear, scratches, marks. Boards holding well, no splitting of the spine or hinges, solid and sturdy. Yellow Paste-downs are discoloured and foxed.
There is some age/use related page discolouration/foxing dotted throughout, mainly yellowing. All text legible. No loose or missing pages. Text block solid. Page edges are gold gilded but noticeable fading and scratching of the gilt. No previous owner inscriptions.
Overall the book remains in very good reading condition, with as described clear signs of age, use and wear. A scarce miniature edition, with interesting Shakspeare illustrations. A collectible edition for Dictionary enthusiasts.
