First People’s Edition, published 1898 by Macmillan and Co, London.

There are some signs of age, use and wear. The green hard covers have noticeable discolouration/fading, along with a few marks/staining. There is some shelf wear along the edges of the boards and spines. Binding is tight, boards hinges firm in both books. There is some occasional age/use related page discolouration/creasing/foxing/staining dotted throughout, end papers and frontispiece tissue guards significantly foxed. All text is clearly legible. Both text blocks firm and complete.


There are no previous owner inscriptions, bookseller stickers on inside front boards, .


Overall both books remain in good reading condition, some wonderful illustrations throughout. A scarce antique set, with as described common signs of age, use and wear.
