THE BARREN FIG-TREE:
Or, The Doom and Downfall of The Fruitless Professor: Showing That the Day of Grace may be past with him long before his Life is ended.
Also, The Signs by which such miserable mortals may be known.
By John Bunyan.
Printed 1797 by A. Millar, London. Originally published 1682.
A small book, measuring 8cm x 12cm, 1cm thick.
Please look at all the photos for the best understanding of the condition and contents.
A small pocket sized book. The leather cover is well worn, many surface scratches and rubbing, some pitting. Small amount of splitting/tearing of the spine, doesn’t affect strength of overall binding. Both boards remain firmly attached to the text block. Pages are yellowed with age, some foxing, creasing dotted throughout. The paper is thin and feels delicate when handling. All pages accounted for, none are loose. Page 73/74 has a small hole in its centre. Faint pencil inscription on front end paper, and opposite the title page.
Overall remains in good reading condition for its age, with as described clear signs of age, use and wear.
A very scarce early print of one of Bunyan’s lessor known works, if you’re a fan of The Pilgrim’s Progress then this is of interest to you.
