The Finger Prayer Book, Common Prayer, Antique Rare Edition, Flower Motif
£250.00 inc. tax
THE FINGER PRAYER BOOK.
THE BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER.
Printed by Henry Frowde, printer at the Oxford University Press from 1880, London.
The book is small, about the Length of a finger, hence it’s name. It measures just 3cm x 9cm.
Please look at all the photos for the best understanding of the condition and contents.
There are some signs of age, use and wear. The cream cover is noticeably faded and discoloured, some rubbing/wear of the edges and across the general surface. A silver gilded Common Prayer title on the front cover, along with an attractive gold gilded flower motif. Gold gilded Common Prayer title to the spine. There is some occasional age/use related page discolouration/creasing dotted throughout, brown spotting/foxing etc. All text is clearly legible. Overall contents binding appears strong and complete. The pages are thin and delicate, presumably India Paper. There are no previous owner inscriptions, a pencil number written on the top left inside cover.
The page edges are gold gilded, but show considerable fading/wear.
Overall remains in good reading condition, however handling with care is advised due to the small fragile size, with as described clear signs of age, use and wear. An scarce and unique binding makes this edition particularly unique.
