THE MIDNIGHT SKY:
Familiar Notes On The Stars And Planets.
by Edwin Dunkin, of the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, And Fellow of The Royal Astronomical Society, London.
With Thirty-Two Star-Maps and numerous other illustrations.
Published by The Religious Tract Society, London.
There is no printed published year present, however the book was first published 1872 and is believed to be an early edition.
Also included, the previous owner had collected a handful of newspaper clippings of articles/diagrams related to the contents of the book, see photos.
The book measures 20cm x 28cm.
Please look at all the photos for the best understanding of the condition and contents.
There are some signs of age, use and wear. The hard cover has had visible restoration work, it appears the original cloth binding has been glued on to a replacement hardcover. The visible surface wear, discolouration and staining is on the original cloth. Some of the cloth cover is beginning to lift off from the hardcover, most noticeable along the spine edge, this does not affect the strength of the binding. The end papers are also new, adding strength to the overall binding. There is some occasional age/use related page discolouration/creasing/tearing dotted throughout, brown spotting/foxing etc. All text is clearly legible. Overall contents binding appears strong, tight and complete. The newspaper clippings are kept at the back of the book. Some pencil note taking and highlighting of text dotted throughout. Overall the contents remain in good reading condition, fascinating information and star maps, with as described clear signs of age, use and wear, to the cover in particular.
