The book discusses the lore and romance of gems and jewelry. It was privately issued to the jeweler's favored clients.
Publisher's 1/4 brown calf hardcover, gilt stamped title on spine and gilt-decorated peacock design front cover, 22 titled tissue guarded coloured plates.
The book measures 22cm x 28cm.

Pre owned with some noticeable signs of age/use/wear. Publisher's cream hardback, overall discoloured/faded and marked. Gilt detail on the front board and spine title still bright. Blotchy discolouration noticeable across the boards. Boards edges are noticeably shelf worn, corners bumped and worn, top and tail of the spine worn, bottom has some chipped loss. Leather spine is particularly marked/scratched. Hinges holding well, strong with no splitting. End papers foxed, first end paper partially detached around a quarter of the way to from bottom edge, still attached overall. Contents is complete, no loose or missing pages. Overall text block yellowed with age, foxing/spotting dotted throughout. Page edges gilt, scuffed and worn in parts. No previous owner inscriptions.
Overall remains in acceptable reading condition. A lovely scarce edition, interesting content for those enthralled by Jewels, with quality illustrations, just a little rough around the edges.
